On the Path to Recovery: Leadership, Resilience, and Creativity

The global economic landscape is still recovering from the prolonged economic crisis which has significantly affected consumer’s buying power, hit commodity prices, as well as hampered growth in general. However, in the midst of the crisis, research has shown that family businesses remain a strong and resilient force which helps propel the economy. An article by Harvard Business Review argued that family businesses tend to be more frugal and enter recessionary period with leaner cost structures.

The 5th International Conference on Family Business and Entrepreneurship (ICFBE 2021) is held by President University, a world-class higher education institution, established to become a reputable research and development centre, and is co-hosted with Universitas Dhyana Pura (Undhira), one of Bali’s visionary and exemplary higher education institution in the region.
The 5th ICFBE aims to gather researchers and practitioners to critically share and discuss the latest empirical, conceptual, as well as theoretical findings and trends with the main theme: “On the Path to Recovery: Leadership, Resilience, and Creativity”.

For this year’s conference, the focus will be on the path to recovering from the COVID-19 epidemic. For this year’s conference, the focus will be on the role of leaders in helping small businesses recover from the epidemic through resilient and innovative ways. Having inclusive leaders, for example, can help small businesses regain confidence in trying to return to the economic fold. This is in line with government programs on how to accelerate economic recovery and create new jobs for all Indonesians. It is hoped that this forum will produce many thought-provoking strategies from scholars, and leaders that small businesses and entrepreneurs hardly hit by the epidemic can learn and draw experiences from.
